An unusual Bosniak tradition in a small village in Kosovo is attracting public attention throughout Europe and the world. The tradition of painting the bride's face from ancient times is still preserved today in the village of Donje Ljubinje.

The village of Donje Ljubinje is located on the Šar mountain range, near the border of Kosovo and Macedonia, and is mostly inhabited by Bosniaks. The village is attracting media attention due to the centuries-old tradition of decorating brides among the local Bosniak population.

The keepers of this tradition believe that painting the bride's face on her wedding day will not cause any difficulties, but will also protect the bride from any misfortune during the marriage.

This lavish ceremony dates back a thousand years and is especially famous for the elaborate way of painting the bride's face. Seventy-three-year-old Aziza Sefitagić is one of the last people in the village who knows the technique of face painting, with unique patterns.

The bride Selma Demirović from Donje Ljubinje decided to get married in the traditional way, in a national costume and with a painted face. The face of the bride Demirović was decorated by the old woman Aziza.
